Their independence allows for the confidential collection of price data throughout the U.K.
Being well respected in the industry, they have a commitment to maintain their database of food service supply information, which is obtained from detail as stated on food and commodity purchase invoices. The information is fully auditable and is taken from a reliable and trusted source.
We benchmark our suppliers prices against their Index to ensure we offer our clients best value at all times.
The Database
The database is used as phase one of the benchmark process – Food and Commodity prices are collected from the catering industry direct from the catering unit in the form of copy invoices. Each quarter, self-operators supply four weeks of information and our unique method of storing and report generation has been designed to measure and compare food prices with accuracy. The estimated annual value of food purchases made by the participating data provider’s totals circa £55,000,000.
The database also holds food prices from the Contracted Market for use in benchmarking of contracted food prices at operational level within a catering unit.
The benchmarking process has been developed and utilized in the industry over twelve years of trading, using wholesale/supplier codes as the main reference point. An exact or similar link must be made to compare prices, which confirms the accuracy of the resulting benchmark report.
