Work experience
Yes Dining assist in training and development of new individuals coming into the industry through a relationship we have with a craft college in Essex. Every year the students from the Thurrock and Basildon College spend two weeks on site shadowing the Chefs, developing a taste of what is required and what it would be like working full time in a busy demanding kitchen. The expenses for this are covered by Yes Dining.
Throughout the two weeks the students spend on site they have a programme of areas to cover and study. Also during this time there is a theory course to be completed together with the Chefs and staff on site. This is built around key objectives the student wishes to focus on during their work experience time and can include menu writing, successfully preparing a certain meal, health and safety issues, or ordering and stock control.
As the students have progressed they have been offered casual positions on site to support the teams during busy periods which they are able to do during the college holidays. This benefits the site in having an extra pair of hands and someone who has gained experience of Yes Dining's procedures. This also gives the students the opportunity to earn some money while continuing their development.
Springboard charitable trust
Springboard is one of our first avenues for recruitment of catering assistants. Springboard is a charitable trust working with young people, school leavers, umemployed and disabled people through structured training programmes and mentoring. Springboard aims to provide education and relevant support services to help these young, unemployed, or disadvantaged groups in the community to prepare for work in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries.
Sport sponsorship
Yes Dining are the proud sponsors of the Griffithstown Under 14 football team who play in the Torfaen League in South Wales. We are currently nearing the end of the season and their position of third in the League table is very promising. It is hoped that we will be able to repeat last seasons triumph of winning the District Cup, with the final played at a packed Cwmbran Stadium.
Beyond the call of duty
Yes Dining work very closely with our clients which puts us in a good position to be able to react quickly and go above and beyond the call of duty when needs arise. A particularly extreme example of this was when a garage in Hove caught fire and the threat of the gas cylinders exploding required the entire street to be evacuated to the Town Hall. A light tea, coffee and sandwich offer was immediately made available until 9pm when the Council decided they would provide a hot meal requiring the Yes Dining team to return to site.
